Getting Ready for the Return to Work as a Breastfeeding Parent With Natalie Worthington, IBCLC

Returning to work is a big transition for all parents of babies. As a nursing parent, there are so many extra logistics to worry about. In this episode, I’m joined by Natalie Worthington, IBCLC to talk about preparing to go back to work as a breastfeeding parent. We talk through some of the most common questions and concerns:

  • How much breastmilk do I need in the freezer before going back to work?

  • How much breastmilk will baby need while they are away from me?

  • How will I manage pumping at work?

  • What can I do to make the transition easier for everyone?

Whether you are looking ahead to your return to work or mid transition, this episode is full of tips and encouragement that I know you’ll find helpful.

About Natalie

Natalie Worthington is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) providing virtual lactation care through the Breastfeeding Center of Greater Washington. She loves helping families navigate breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, and the sometimes chaotic transition back to work—because apparently keeping a tiny human fed wasn’t enough to juggle.

A mom of two herself, Natalie believes lactation support should be practical, evidence-based, and actually doable in real life. She’s especially passionate about helping parents make feeding work alongside jobs, sleep, childcare, and everything else life throws at them—without adding another impossible standard to live up to.
